Sweet… Hangover in Chicago

First off, I would like to say for the record that I strongly believe in commitments. I can’t help it. I was taught as a kid to go out of my way to honor my word. Thus, allow me to come back on my last post, which ended on the following note:

… if it so happens that we win The Ex-Awards grand prize, not only will I adopt the city as my own, but I may conclude the evening with my impersonation of the Blues Brothers’ classic… ”

Well it’s probably one of the first things that went through my mind. As I was walking through the Hyatt Regency Hotel ballroom’s floor with fellow Team Members to grab our first ever Ex-Award, I said to myself, Holly … I now have to find black sun glasses, a black hat (I already had the black suit on…) and an empty Karaoke bar!

After I made a fool of myself on stage mumbling a few words as an acceptance speech, my team and I literally went on a mission of celebration.  But in our excitement and after $40.00 of unsuccessful cab rides, we suddenly had to face that a Monday evening in Chicago is pretty much the same as any other Monday evening anywhere else. Not exactly the best night to party. In spite of our zeal we did not find an open Karaoke bar. But we did find a bar…

So here’s the deal. We might not have won the Ex-Awards Grand Prize for all categories combined, however, we are very proud to win the Ex-Award in the Best Mall Event Program category for the Huggies® Little Movers campaign. And I have three things to prove it:

  1. A spectacular bar bill
  2. A nice piece of silverware sitting next to my laptop as I write this
  3. A Sweet Hangover in Chicago

Friends, the great John Belushi can rest in peace for now. I did not massacre the iconic tune yet. But I will eventually since, as I said earlier, I like to pay my dues. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile enjoy this one. It’s as close as we can get from the original Bro’s.
